Tickets here... http://www.wegottickets.com/event/152668 | SATURDAY 25 FEBRUARY 2012 MASQUE THEATRE DOUBLE BILL SAMUEL BECKETT & JUSTIN BUTCHER HAPPY DAYS by Samuel Beckett Happy Days is Beckett’s ‘happy’ play. At the beginning we meet Winnie, a chatty, constantly sunny housewife who happens to be buried up to her waist in rubbish. Winnie takes us through her day… the bell for waking and the bell for sleeping, the bag that contains all the elements that make up her life and her husband Willie who is always just out of sight. One of Beckett’s less-performed plays Happy Days is a funny, beautiful and sad comment on the nature of existence and how so many of us allow our lives to consume us. At the beginning of Act II Winnie is up to her neck, still she assures us that this will be another ‘Happy Day’. SCARAMOUCHE JONES by Justin Butcher 11pm Millennium Eve: Ancient clown Scaramouche breaks fifty years' silence to give his final performance... ...and charts a bizarre odyssey through crumbling empires, comic misadventures and the 20th Century's darkest episodes, revealing the loves, the brutalities, the ecstasies and the tragedies beneath his seven white masks in an epic, poetic, profoundly moving tale.
